Campeonato Paulista


The Campeonato Paulista is a prestigious football competition held annually in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The tournament was first established in 1902, making it the oldest professional football competition in Brazil. The championship is organized by the São Paulo State Football Federation (FPF).

The inaugural tournament was won by São Paulo Athletic Club. Over the years, the competition has been dominated by four major clubs: Corinthians, Palmeiras, São Paulo, and Santos, often referred to as the "Big Four" of São Paulo football. These teams have produced some of the greatest Brazilian footballers, including Pelé, Zico, Sócrates, and Neymar.

The Campeonato Paulista holds significant importance in Brazilian football for several reasons. Firstly, it showcases the strength of São Paulo's football, which is considered one of the strongest state leagues in Brazil.
